The MaxSignal® Aflatoxin M1 ELISA Kit is a competitive ELISA for the quantitative analysis of Aflatoxin M1. Aflatoxin M1 is the hydroxylated metabolite of Aflatoxin B1. Aflatoxins are believed to be one of the most carcinogenic naturally occurring substances capable of liver and DNA damage. In 1987, the WHO classified aflatoxins as Group 1 carcinogens. Aflatoxin M1 is known to be oxidized by the mixed-function oxygenases of the liver P-450 system. This oxidation results in a reactive 8,9-epoxide as the major product, which seems to preferentially attack certain guanine residues in double stranded DNA. Aflatoxicosis is the disease caused by ingestion of aflatoxins in contaminated food or feed.
This kit is manufactured to the international quality standard ISO 9001.
